Overview

Ultar Sar, standing proudly at 7,388 meters (24,239 feet), is a prominent peak nestled in the Batura Muztagh subrange of the Karakoram Mountains, near Karimabad in the Hunza Valley, Pakistan. This majestic peak is composed of two main summits, Ultar I and Ultar II, and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Hunza-Nagar Valley.

Known for its challenging ascent, Ultar Sar captivates climbers with its steep faces, jagged ridges, and unpredictable weather conditions. It commands attention not only for its technical difficulty but also for its historical significance in mountaineering.

During the 1990s, Ultar Sar gained notoriety as one of the world’s supposed highest unclimbed independent peaks, sparking numerous expeditions despite its formidable reputation. It wasn’t until 1996 that the first successful ascent was achieved by the Japanese Alpine Club members Akito Yamazaki and Kiyoshi Matsuoka via the Bathbakor Base Camp.

Today, Ultar Sar remains a coveted destination for seasoned mountaineers seeking to conquer its challenging routes and experience the thrill of scaling a significant Karakoram peak. The trek to Ultar Sar Base Camp is also a popular choice for adventurers looking to immerse themselves in the pristine beauty of the Hunza Valley, surrounded by iconic peaks like Lady Finger and Hunza Peak.

Our Ultar Sar Expedition package includes comprehensive services such as hotel accommodations, necessary permits for peaks above 7,000 meters, domestic flights, skilled chefs, expert tour guides, visa assistance, capable porters, top-quality camping equipment, daily meals, and essential kitchen tools.

Prepare yourself for an unforgettable journey into the heart of the Karakoram, where every step is a testament to the spirit of adventure and exploration.
