Our camps include tables, comfy chairs, a spacious mess/dining tent, a proper toilet tent for privacy, a generator for charging electronics, and endless pots of French press coffee, tea, and plates of cookies upon your arrival at camp. These details create an unparalleled camp-life experience.
4. Each trek has a minimum of two trip leaders – one Western leader and one local leader.
5. Group size: You will NEVER see a Skardu Trekkers Expeditions team with more than 12 people.
6. Safety plans and protocols: A major difference between Skardu Trekkers and our competitors is our professional and comprehensive safety plan, along with the necessary tools to handle any emergency situation. All of our guides are trained in wilderness first aid and risk management.

All guests joining the Spantik Peak Expedition must apply for a Pakistani Trekking and Mountaineering Visa. This visa is different from the standard tourist visa, so you will not be applying for a tourist visa.

Skardu Trekkers provides all the necessary documentation for the visa application, including the Letter of Invitation (LOI).

Yes, trekking experience is essential for the Spantik Peak expedition. Spantik Peak, standing at 7,027 meters in the Karakoram range, is known for its technical challenges, including steep slopes, rock, and ice climbing.

Trekking and climbing experience are critical for ensuring safety and success on the Spantik Peak expedition. It’s recommended to have prior experience with similar high-altitude, technical climbs before attempting Spantik Peak.

Roughly 50% of our clients on the K2 Base Camp Trek are female, hailing primarily from the USA, the UK, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Over the years, we have had solo women from more than 20 different nationalities join us on this expedition.

You will always be paired with another solo woman as hotel/tent mates. If there is no other female to pair you with due to odd numbers, you will not be required to share a tent.

Northern Pakistan is a very safe part of the world. We often say that you are safer traveling in Northern Pakistan as a woman than walking alone at night in Paris or New York City.

The Spantik Peak Expedition involves a certain amount of risk as we venture deep into the mountains of a developing country.

However, member safety is EBT’s top priority. Our experienced ground team does everything possible to ensure a safe adventure, focusing on safety first and injury prevention.

Skardu Trekkers goes above and beyond to be fully prepared for emergencies, bringing all necessary tools to manage any situation.

The reality on the ground in Pakistan is that other local (budget) tour operators often forgo bringing a satellite phone due to its high cost. For us, being unprepared for emergencies is unacceptable. This commitment to safety is a significant reason why clients choose us and continue to return for different adventures year after year.

Spantik is considered one of the more accessible 7,000 m peaks in the Karakoram, but it is still a serious high-altitude mountaineering expedition.
Participants should have prior experience above 5,000–6,000 m, be comfortable with snow/ice/glacier travel using crampons and ice axes, and be physically very fit. Skardu Trekkers will take care of each and every facility required for spantik peak expedition.

The ideal season for Spantik is during the summer months of the Karakoram: typically June to August (sometimes into early September).
Outside this window weather becomes more unpredictable and conditions more difficult. Most do in end of July to End of August.

You should have:

Previous high-altitude trekking or climbing (preferably at least a 6,000 m peak)

Basic technical skills: using crampons, ice axes, roped glacier travel.

Good physical fitness: ability to carry gear, endure long days at altitude, recover from fatigue.

Typical expedition duration is 30 days (approx) including approach, acclimatisation, climbing, and descent.
The approach: drive/flight to Skardu, jeep to Arandu, trek across glacier to base camp (approx 3–4 days) then ascending via camps (Camp I, II, III…) to summit, then descent. If the weather conditon suits you can also do it less than 20 days.

Mountain permits, governmental fees.

In-country transfers (depending on operator) from Islamabad/Skardu to base camp.

Accommodation: (hotel before mountain, tents on mountain), meals at base camp and higher.

Tents, communal gear, cooks, high altitude porters, fixed ropes (in some packages)

On standard routes for Spantik, supplemental oxygen is not typically required—this is part of what makes it more approachable among 7,000 m peaks.
However, it depends on your personal physiology, team policy, weather/conditions — so check with us for more detais.

Key risks include:

Altitude illnesses (AMS, HACE, HAPE) — even fit climbers can develop them.

Extreme weather (storms, high winds, rapid weather changes) in the Karakoram.

Glacial travel hazards (crevasses, ice falls) and steep snow slopes (up to ~40° sections) on the route.

Remote location: medical evacuation may be delayed by weather or logistics.

You’ll need full high-altitude mountaineering gear, including:

5-season sleeping bag rated to around –20°C or lower.

High-altitude mountaineering boots (double/plastic boots) for summit push.

Crampons, ice axe, harness, helmet, glacier travel equipment.

Layers of clothing (base layer, insulating, shell), sun protection (gloves, hat, goggles, sunblock) due to strong UV and cold.

Most expedition operators account for the possibility of delaying summit pushes due to weather. You may need to wait at higher camps for a favourable window. In some cases summit may not be possible and you descend safely. This means flexibility (time, budget) is important.

During the trek approach you’ll carry your daypack. On higher climbs you’ll carry your personal gear and some loads; high-altitude porters often assist with heavier loads. For example one operator notes day-packs should be ~10-15 kg on summit day.

Yes — the itinerary includes approach days, rest days, rotations up to higher camps and back for acclimatisation. This is critical for success and safety.

We provide communal meals, cook staff, food and fuel at Base Camp and above. However you need to bring your personal snacks, high energy bars, and some specialised items if you have dietary restrictions. You will be provided a list of food from which you can let us know about the desired food/meal you like.
