Itinerary

Upon arriving at Islamabad International Airport, you'll be warmly welcomed by the Skardu Trekkers team and escorted to your hotel for check-in. This day allows you to unwind after your journey and explore some of Islamabad's iconic attractions, including the magnificent Faisal Mosque and the panoramic viewpoint of Daman-e-Koh. In the evening, you'll attend a comprehensive briefing session to prepare for the Four 8000m Base Camp Trek, followed by a delightful welcome dinner.

Start your day with an early morning flight to Skardu. During this thrilling flight, you'll be captivated by aerial views of towering mountain ranges, including the formidable Karakoram and the Himalayan ranges. Upon landing in Skardu, you'll be transferred to your hotel, where you can soak in the serene ambiance of this mountainous town. The remainder of the day offers time to acclimate and prepare for the exciting days ahead on your Four 8000m Base Camp Trek.

Your day in Skardu begins with a brief acclimatization hike up to the historic Kharpocho Fort, offering a bird's-eye view of the Indus River and the surrounding landscape. Afterward, you can explore Skardu’s bustling bazaars or enjoy a peaceful boat ride on Upper Kachura Lake. This day allows you to ensure all your gear is in order and purchase any last-minute supplies before beginning the Four 8000m Base Camp Trek.

Today, you embark on a rugged jeep ride from Skardu to Askoli, the gateway village to the Karakoram Range. The drive takes you through the remote and awe-inspiring Shigar Valley, eventually leading to Askoli. As the final inhabited village, Askoli marks the starting point of the Four 8000m Base Camp Trek. Here, you'll meet your porters and finalize preparations for the trek.

Your trek begins with a journey to Jhola, crossing the Biafo Glacier's snout and the confluence of the Braldu and Domordo rivers. The trail takes you along the riverbank, offering spectacular views as you make your way to Jhola, where you’ll set up camp for the night.

Today’s trek leads you to Paiju Camp, offering breathtaking views of the Karakoram Range's towering peaks and expansive glaciers. The trail’s diverse terrain makes for a challenging yet rewarding day, with Paiju Camp providing a scenic and restful end to your day.

This day at Paiju Camp is dedicated to acclimatization. You can take an optional hike to the base of Paiju Peak, while the porters prepare supplies for the upcoming days on the glacier. Rest and prepare for the challenging trek ahead.

Leaving Paiju, you’ll begin your journey across the massive Baltoro Glacier, with the iconic Trango Towers and Uli Biaho providing a dramatic backdrop. This day offers a taste of the Four 8000m Base Camp Trek’s glacier trekking as you make your way to Khoburtse Camp.

As you continue along the Baltoro Glacier, the awe-inspiring Trango Towers dominate the skyline. After navigating two smaller glaciers, you’ll reach Urdukas, a campsite perched above the Baltoro Glacier, offering panoramic views of the surrounding peaks.

Today’s trek takes you deeper into the Baltoro Glacier, with the majestic Masherbrum towering in the distance. The trail’s rugged terrain and breathtaking views of ice seracs and towering peaks make this a memorable day on the Four 8000m Base Camp Trek. You’ll spend the night at Goro II, camping on the glacier itself.

This is a highlight of the Four 8000m Base Camp Trek, as you make your way to Concordia, the meeting point of several glaciers and the heart of the Karakoram Range. From here, you’ll have your first views of the legendary K2, Broad Peak, and the Gasherbrum massif. Camping at Concordia offers a surreal experience, surrounded by some of the world's highest mountains.

Today, you’ll trek up the Godwin-Austen Glacier towards K2 Base Camp, passing Broad Peak Base Camp along the way. The highlight of the day is reaching the Art Gilkey Memorial, dedicated to climbers who lost their lives on K2. You’ll spend the night at K2 Base Camp, an unforgettable stop on your Four 8000m Base Camp Trek.

After an early morning departure from K2 Base Camp, you’ll retrace your steps back to Concordia, where you’ll have time to rest and take in the breathtaking surroundings.

Today, the Four 8000m Base Camp Trek leads you to Shahring, a scenic campsite on the upper Baltoro Glacier. Along the way, you’ll be treated to views of Chogolisa, Snow Dome, and Baltoro Kangri, among other towering peaks.

This day takes you to the base camps of Gasherbrum I and II, where you’ll establish camp. The pristine alpine surroundings provide a serene setting for exploration and rest. If lucky, you may have the opportunity to meet climbers preparing for their ascent of these mighty peaks.

After a day spent exploring Gasherbrum Base Camps, you’ll return to Concordia, retracing your steps through the glacier's rugged terrain.

On this leg of the Four 8000m Base Camp Trek, you’ll take a less-traveled route to Ali Camp. The trek requires careful navigation to avoid crevasses, and in snowy conditions, you’ll use crampons and ropes for safety. Upon reaching Ali Camp, you’ll receive a briefing on the next day’s challenge: crossing the Gondogoro La Pass.

This day begins with a pre-dawn start as you ascend towards the top of Gondogoro La. The climb offers breathtaking views of all four 8000m peaks, a true highlight of the Four 8000m Base Camp Trek. After reaching the summit, you’ll descend to Khuispang, where you’ll set up camp for the night.

Leaving Khuispang, you’ll make your way to Saicho, a picturesque campsite along the Hushe River. This day’s trek offers a more relaxed pace, allowing you to savor the final days of the Four 8000m Base Camp Trek.

Your final trekking day takes you from Saicho to Hushe Village, where your jeep will be waiting to transport you back to Skardu. After the exhilarating journey through the Karakoram, you’ll return to your hotel in Skardu for a well-deserved rest.

This day is reserved as a contingency in case of any delays encountered during the trek. Such delays can occur due to various reasons, including roadblocks, weather conditions, or unforeseen circumstances. The purpose of this day is to ensure that our guests do not miss their domestic flights.
If everything goes according to plan and no delays are experienced, this day can be utilized for sightseeing in Skardu. Guests can explore the beautiful surroundings, visit local landmarks, or simply relax and enjoy the serene atmosphere of Skardu after the challenging trek. This flexibility ensures that your experience remains smooth and enjoyable, regardless of any potential disruptions.

After a morning flight from Skardu to Islamabad, you'll have the remainder of the day to relax or explore more of the capital. In the evening, you'll gather with your fellow trekkers for a farewell dinner, celebrating the successful completion of the Four 8000m Base Camp Trek.

Departure

On your final day, you’ll be transferred to Islamabad International Airport for your departure, taking with you unforgettable memories of the Four 8000m Base Camp Trek and the majestic Karakoram Range.
