Overview

The Baltoro Glacier Trek stands among the most renowned treks globally, leading adventurers to the base of K2, the world’s second-highest peak. Often called the “Mountain of Mountains” by the legendary mountaineer Reinhold Messner, K2 is a pinnacle of climbing aspiration.

Access to the Baltoro Glacier Trek begins at Askoli, a quaint valley nestled in the Skardu region of Pakistan. K2 dominates the Karakoram Range, with the imposing Godwin Austin Glacier converging to form the mighty Baltoro Glacier.

The trek culminates at Concordia, famously referred to as the “throne room of the mountain Gods” by Galen Rowell. From Concordia, trekkers are treated to views of numerous peaks exceeding 8000 meters, all within a 21 km radius.

The adventure with Skardu Trekkers kicks off with an international flight to Pakistan, followed by an overnight stay in Islamabad. The next morning, participants board a flight to Skardu, a journey of approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. This flight, dependent on weather conditions, offers breathtaking views of the Indus Valley and the formidable “Killer Mountain,” Nanga Parbat. Should weather disrupt the flight, an alternative route via the Karakoram Highway extends the journey to Skardu over two days, with an overnight stop in Chilas.

Upon landing in Skardu, Skardu Trekkers’ staff will escort participants to their hotel. Skardu, while still developing, provides opportunities for exploring the local market where trekkers can purchase necessary gear and mountaineering equipment.

After one or two days of preparation in Skardu, the expedition proceeds to Askoli village by jeep. This marks the starting point of the on-foot journey along the Baltoro Glacier Trek, where participants’ endurance and determination will be challenged over the ensuing two weeks.

Experience the thrill of the Baltoro Glacier Trek with Skardu Trekkers, where every step brings you closer to nature’s grandeur and the majestic K2.
